St Kilda Film Festival brings filmmakers together to explore and discuss their craft, forge new relationships and discover new resources. Through the Forum Series and the many networking events that occur during the Festival each year, we help filmmakers get their work made, get their work seen and take the next step in their filmmaking career.
The St Kilda Film Festival forum series addresses current industry topics, drawing representatives from filmmaking practice and industry-based organisations to discuss the trends, issues and creative practices that are influencing the Australian film industry.
Our forums feature practitioners including directors and producers, sound designers, editors and production designers, composers, cinematographers and animators, colourists, actors and screenwriters. From Adam Elliot to Amiel Courtin-Wilson, Matt Saville to Matilda Brown, Damian Walshe-Howling to Damon Gameau, some of the best talent in the country has appeared at the St Kilda Film Festival forums. Leading lights from Australia’s screen funding bodies, distribution companies and film festivals have also brought their expertise to the Festival, giving filmmakers the lowdown on how best to distribute and market their films both locally and internationally.
Representatives from organisations such as Screen Australia, Film Victoria, AFI, MIFF, Screenwest, SA Film Corp, Portable Film Festival, NSW Film and Television Office, interfilm Berlin, Cork Film Festival, Annecy Animated Film Festival have shared their expert opinion in St Kilda forums, putting our filmmakers on the inside track.
