Swift: Video Art Screenings at Linden – Centre for Contemporary Arts

A program of films by contemporary artists to be shown in the Linden Reading Room as part of the St Kilda Film Festival. These short video screenings, curated by Jan Duffy, Linden Program Director and Matthew Perkins, Studio Co-ordinator, Photomedia, Monash University, are designed to create a discussion focusing on the nexus between the visual arts and cinema. Each program spotlights a different approach to the media.

Dogs Bar

St Kilda and filmmaking have a long history together, with the suburb hosting film shoots and filmmakers, and even starring in films itself.

This session of films presents films shot in St Kilda, about St Kilda, or made by St Kilda locals – in the heart of St Kilda at the Dogs Bar. A sell out session at last year’s Festival, make sure you book and don’t miss out.

This year’s St Kilda On Screen includes two films from the Roomers: Tales on Film project, which gives St Kilda's rooming house community the chance to work with filmmaker Marion Lee to write and direct their own short video story. Roomers aims to air some of the St Kilda stories we don't hear and to showcase the talent of artists living in rooming houses and private hotels in the City of Port Phillip. The project is generously supported by VicHealth and Arts Victoria.
