Backroads (1977)

Three years after Castor and Pollux, comes Noyce's fabulous feature, Backroads. Featuring sensational performances from St Kilda Film Fest special guest Gary Foley and the sadly missed Bill Hunter, Backroads. Continuing to explore his political chops seen in his earlier student works, Backroads is a great mix of classic road movie and politcal statement and is bought to life via the unquestionable chemistry between Foley and Hunter. Drifters, murder, hitchhickers, the open road, a big fast car and that great 70's sense of up-yours freedom, combine to produce this sparkling piece of Australian cinema.
