Charlie Needs Braces

Charlie is a proud GuriNgai woman of the Wannangine Nation and a direct descendant of Bungaree and Matora. The lands running from the central coast of NSW along the mouth of the Hawkesbury river and into Northern Sydney.
Since graduating from the VCA with a Bachelor of Contemporary Music on Trumpet in 2014, Charlie has worked full-time as a Naarm based professional musician, playing trumpet, singing and accompanying several bands including ‘The Teskey Brothers’, ‘The Seven Ups’, ‘TEK TEK Ensemble’, and ‘WVR BABY’on percussion. Charlie is also developing her own ensembles including 'Ogopogo', 'Chaos Magnet', and 'Mangelwurzel'.

In 2021 Charlie began developing her solo project - 'Charlie Needs Braces' - featuring live looping and original compositions inspired by her Aboriginal heritage after learning more about her families bloodline.
