Transport & Accessibility

In 2021, St Kilda Film Festival will take place at several venues in the City of Port Phillip. Here's how to navigate to and from the Festival locations:

The Astor Theatre

1 Chapel Street, St Kilda, Vic, 3182

Parking:

  • Only on-street parking available. Note that there will be a particular decrease in parking availability during school pick-up times.

Public Transport:

A short walk from:

  • Tram Route 5: Stop 32
  • Tram Route 64: Stop 32
  • Tram Route 78: Stop 78
  • Windsor Station: On the Sandringham Line

Accessibility:

  • Wheelchair accessible via a ramp entry point located in the adjacent bar/café Overlook - just ask for help at the door.
  • Fully accessible bathrooms inside.

JMC Academy

208 Park St, South Melbourne, Vic, 3205 (except The Big Picture firearms workshops which are: 171 Bank St, South Melbourne, Vic, 3205)

Parking:

  • No onsite parking. There is a commercial car park located at 69-75 Clarke St, South Melbourne, 3205 (approximately a 500m walk)

A Short walk from:

  • Tram Route 1: Stop 24
  • Tram Route 12: Stop 129
  • Tram Routes 16/3/3a/5/6/64/67/72: Stop 20 (1km walk)

Accessibility:

  • Park St has been built to current accessibility standards with wheelchair access to all levels and accessibility considerations for students, staff and visitors who are vision impaired. There are disabled bathrooms located on ground, 1 and 2 that are all accessible via elevator.

  • There will also be a quiet room set up at the Park St location, as well as a accessibility specific panel titled 'Making Authentic Movies'. See the Big Picture Program for more information.
  • The Bank St buildings are older and there is restricted access to level one. There is no wheelchair access to the Auditorium space or the other areas on level 1.

The Backlot Studios

Accessibility:

  • Unfortunately, the auditorium – where the screenings are held – is not wheelchair accessible.
  • Downstairs area – ‘The Backlot Lounge’ – and onsite bathrooms hold full accessibility.

The Alex Theatre

Level 1, 135 Fitzroy Street Boulevard, St Kilda, Vic, 3182

Parking:

No onsite parking. Some nearby parking at:

  • Metropol Canterbury Road
  • Metropol Fitzroy Street

Public Transport:

A short walk from:

  • Tram Route 96: Stop 132

  • Tram Route 12: Stop 143

Accessibility:

  • The theatre is wheelchair accessible via a lift, simply inform the friendly security guard at the front door upon arrival.
  • Wheelchair accessible washrooms present.
  • The Mezzanines are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
