Tricks of Self Distribution
Distributing your film even with a distributor is a fraught affair, but what are the dynamics if you choose to take your film into the marketplace and self-distribute?
In choosing this route, we've seen some considerable success with filmmakers such as Bob Connolly and more recently Bill Bennet with his title 'The Way, My Way', but they also acknowledge the considerable work it takes to independently rep your film.
How do you approach cinemas? What are they looking for and what can they offer you? What'll it cost and what do you need to best approach audiences?
This panel will go some way toward filling those blanks and giving you a pragmatic and realistic perspective from all angles on what you need to think about and what tools you'll need to take control of your work.
