Transport & Accessibility
In 2025, St Kilda Film Festival will take place at several venues in the City of Port Phillip, with the Festival Hub at the St Kilda Town Hall. Below is information about how to navigate to and from the Festival locations.
Parking at venues
Parking at most festival venues facilitated by festival partner PayStay. Parking provided by PayStay is available across the St Kilda Town Hall, JMC Academy, Backlot Studios and the Victorian Pride Centre.
Accessible seating and wheelchair access
If you require accessible seating or wheelchair access, please contact filmfest@portphillip.vic.gov.au before purchasing tickets, to ensure spaces are available.
Film captions and Auslan interpretation
The Opening Night screening and speeches are captioned. The Festival's Closing Ceremony is Auslan-interpreted.
Palais Theatre

Parking:
There are many parking options just a short walk from the Palais Theatre:
- St Kilda Triangle Car Park, Marine Parade (1 minute walk)
- Luna Park - 23 Shakespeare Grove, St Kilda (3 minute walk)
- Acland Street Shops - 2 Belford Street, St Kilda (6 minute walk)
- Acland Court - 183 Barkly Street St Kilda (8 minute walk)
- St Kilda Sea Baths - 10 Jacka Boulevard (5 minute walk)
- Marine Parade Carpark - Marine Parade (7 minute walk)
- Jackson Street - 36 Jackson Street, St Kilda (9 minute walk)
- Metropol - 64 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda (14 minute walk)
Please be aware that almost all parking in St Kilda, including on-street, is paid parking. So please check for signage and bring your credit card or change.
Public Transport:

- Tram Route 16: Stop 138
- Tram Route 96: Stop 138
- Sandringham Line: Balaclava station and take tram route 16 towards Acland Street
Accessibility:
- Sessions are wheelchair accessible. Please contact filmfest@portphillip.vic.gov.au before purchasing tickets to ensure spaces are available.
- There are accessible parking spots available on Cavell Street. Access is via Jacka Boulevard or The Esplanade.
- Accessible toilets are located on Ground Level and Level 1, next to the venue elevator. Ambulant toilet cubicles are in all main toilets.
The Astor Theatre

Only on-street parking available. Note that there will be a particular decrease in parking availability during school pick-up times.

- Wheelchair accessible via a ramp entry point located in the adjacent bar/café Overlook - just ask for help at the door.
- Fully accessible bathrooms available.
JMC Academy - Park St Campus

1P paid parking available onsite from 8am to 6pm. Provided by PayStay.

Accessibility:
- Park St has been built to current accessibility standards with wheelchair access to all levels and accessibility considerations for students, staff and visitors who are vision impaired. There are disabled bathrooms located on ground, 1 and 2 that are all accessible via elevator
The Backlot Studios

Parking:
No onsite parking. There is a commercial car park located at 69-75 Clarke St, South Melbourne, 3205 (approximately a 500m walk)

- Unfortunately, the auditorium – where the screenings are held – is not wheelchair accessible.
Victorian Pride Centre
79-81 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, VIC 3182
Parking:
1P and 2P parking available on Fitzroy Street, 8am – 6pm on Fitzroy Street. There's also a car park on Jackson Street, offering 3P parking from 8am – midnight. Parking provided by PayStay.

South Melbourne Market
322-326 Coventry St, South Melbourne VIC 3205
Please use the 328 Coventry Street entrance for film sessions. All other entrances to South Melbourne Market will be closed.
Parking:
The rooftop carpark is open from 5 am - 10.30 pm daily and parking rates are per day.
Additional paid parking is also available is all across Coventry Street, Cecil Street, York Street and Market Street, with a mix of 1P and 2P, 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week. Provided by PayStay.

- There are six disabled parking spaces available in our rooftop carpark. The rooftop carpark is accessible by ramps located on Coventry Street and the corner of York and Cecil Streets.
- There are also three disabled parking spaces in the York Street carpark and four disabled parking spaces along York Street.
