Stone Love at The Astor: A PBS Live Broadcast

Celebrating 20 years of strange and luxurious drive-time radio on PBS 106.7FM, Richie 1250 hits the iconic Astor Theatre in St. Kilda for a very special live broadcast of Stone Love, 5pm-7pm Friday June 5.

Stone Love has become an institution on Melbourne’s independent airwaves since PBS first threw Richie the keys to the studio back in 2006. In the ensuing years the program has been wonderfully unpredictable, consistently eclectic and completely unique. To celebrate this anniversary PBS, in conjunction with the St. Kilda Film Festival and the City of Port Phillip, will present Stone Love live-on-stage with a bunch of special guests playing live and spinning some rare vinyl.

Drop into The Astor to be a part of the experience, or tune in to PBS 106.7 on your radio, your streamer, or your smartphone. Guests will include Sugar Fed Leopards, Ella Thompson, Esther Henderson, Plazza, Loretta Miller, Simone Page Jones & Jules Pascoe, Jason Goodman and Brenda. Entry is FREE, RSVP is essential.

For those that want to kick on, the St. Kilda Film Festival are screening the rarely seen documentary Last Drinks, tracing the history of The Prince of Wales Hotel before it closed for renovations in 1996. This era marked a significant change in the culture and community in and around Fitzroy Street St. Kilda and Last Drinks reveals the thoughts and insights of the community that coalesced around The Prince in the 1980s and 1990s. The Prince of Wales Hotel was also the location of PBS 106.7FM’s first broadcasts in 1979.
