Co-Authorship and Cross-Cultural Filmmaking

Collaboration, co‑authorship, and co‑production are at the heart of storytelling that’s authentic, impactful, and culturally rich.
Join filmmakers from the Top Shorts films Faceless and Eagle Eye, along with acclaimed filmmaker David Batty, for an open conversation about working together across cultures to create the entertaining, engaging, beautiful First Peoples stories they have brought to the screen. Facilitated by Tasha James and focusing on collaboration between First Peoples creatives and settler‑descended creatives, this panel will engage with what it means to produce authentic through co-authorship and collaboration.
Panellists include:
  • Fraser Pemberton and William Jaka (Faceless)
  • Eamon Wyss and Uncle Ron Murray (Eagle Eye)
  • David Batty
